ISO 6942:2022:
1. ISO 6942 is an international standard for the test methods and performance evaluation of thermal protective materials. This standard is applicable to various types of thermal protection materials, including fabrics, nonwovens, leather, rubber, plastics and coating materials. Its purpose is to determine the thermal conductivity, tensile strength, tear strength, puncture strength, flame resistance, peeling and thermal stability of the material.
2. In ISO 6942 standard, heat conduction test is one of the main test methods. This experiment measures the surface temperature rise of the material under the effect of heat flux, so as to determine the thermal conductivity of the material. In addition, the standard also includes various performance test methods, such as:
Tensile strength test: determine the maximum tensile force and elongation at break of the material;
Tear strength test: measure the tear strength of materials under stress;
Puncture strength test: measure the puncture strength of the material under stress;
Flame resistance test: evaluate the combustion performance of materials;
Drop-off test: evaluate the adhesion of materials under heating;
Thermal stability test: evaluate the stability of materials at high temperature.
In short, ISO 6942 standard provides standardized test methods and requirements for performance evaluation of thermal protection materials, which helps to ensure the quality and safety of thermal protection materials.
